The opportunity to go to Manhattan came up quickly and I couldn’t refuse. It was a last minute decision and I have to say I am usually not a spontaneous person. I have been there several times so I had already seen the usual tourist attractions such as Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park and The Financial District. That said, there is so much more to see and do.
When I first arrived I went right to EATALY NYC Flatiron. A friend of mine who used to live there said it is one of her favorite places. It is everything Italian. They have restaurants, classes, events and grocery. I could have spent a month in this place. We did eat a delicious lunch but then soon headed out after some brief window shopping.
The next stop was shopping!! We went to The White Company, which I have been crushing on for awhile. They are based in London and their US Flagship store is in Manhattan. We also stopped at Kate Spade and Club Monoco. I had to stop shopping at this point because my pocket book was getting very thin! We then headed back to the hotel for a refresh before our evening began.
Our hotel was in Midtown East which is below the Upper East Side and Central Park. It was a pretty good location. We met in the lobby for what was a fantastic vodka martini! One of the better ones for sure. The good news is we were just blocks from our Broadway play, Bandstand. It was in it’s final week and excellent. Next we had a reservation for the restaurant Nobu. I was thrilled because I have always wanted to eat there, usually this restaurant is booked a month out. Needless to say, It was very good! Drinks were great and the menu was awesome. Typical Manhattan, we saw young children eating dinner at 10:30 at night using chopsticks. Such a different way of life, it was intriguing.
The next morning we headed to Grand Central Station and Bryant Park. It was so relaxing to hang out in the park because the people watching was fun! We grabbed lunch at Whole Foods and listened to Piano In The Park. It was great. Bryant Park also has a newly remodeled bathroom and apparently was paid for by Bryant Park Corp, a not-for profit-organization. It has imported tiles, classical music, artwork, freshly delivered flowers, and a bathroom attendant and was $300K!!! A bit ridiculous but it is nice to find a CLEAN bathroom in the city. Then we went to shop at Alice & Olivia’s which is another fan favorite of mine. Shortly after lunch we headed back home. We had such a great time, saw some really cool things and I am looking forward to my next trip!
