Now That’s Something To Feast About!

I have to start by saying before I made the decision to start a blog I entertained the idea of opening my own gourmet kitchen store with cooking classes.  I knew it was a crazy idea because I had zero retail experience, I am not a very good cook, and I was pretty sure I wasn’t ready for the commitment.  It was quickly evaporated after a couple of weeks of thoughtful discussions.  Fortunately, my wish to have a local gourmet kitchen store was answered!  I heard through the grape vine that Sean Gartland was opening up Feast Gourmet Kitchen Shop.  It is a gourmet kitchen store with cooking classes!!!  How lucky was I?  I reached out to him immediately to learn more.

In our conversation, I learned that Sean’s passion was inspired by the joy he had cooking with family and friends when he was younger.   His interest continued and turned into a passionate career of cooking, an education from amazing chefs and being hired as a chef instructor at a cooking school, The Chopping Block Cooking School in Chicago.  The cooking school was the most influential part of his career because he found that he enjoys teaching the most.

After our initial visit he invited me to his VIP event.  It was a fun event and I was able to explore the shop and indulge on some cocktails and food.  My first impression of Feast was the time and knowledge that was put into the store.  Sean’s passion for cooking is tangible when you meet him and it shows in the items that he stocks.  I love the fact that he has chef curated cookware such as Staub (one of my favorites),  Demeyere or Global cutlery.  The variety of items is great because you can walk in and spend $40 or less for a gift to yourself or a friend.  They carry an assortment of spices, sauces and other kitchen tools to inspire your culinary skills!  One of my favorite offerings are the wide variety of cooking classes, from a Hands-On Sushi Workshop to a Kids In The Kitchen-Donut Clinic.  I mean, how fun is that?  I am looking forward to participating in some classes and having a girls night with some friends or if I am really lucky I may just get my hubby to join me for their Date Night:Havana Nights Cuban Cooking!  In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the spices that I received from the VIP Party!  The store’s official opening was August 30th and if you get the chance make sure to tell Sean I said hi!
