Get Ready For Summer With These 5 Essentials

My favorite season is right around the corner!  Have you ever realized at the end of summer you have accumulated some items that you couldn’t live without?  I’d like to share 5 of my favorite summer essentials that will help you get ready for this summer season.  They’ll blend into any lifestyle effortlessly and you can take them anywhere.

#1  The Water Bottle.  Water bottles have become a summer essential statement piece all on their own.  If you’re like me, you can’t stand the thought of drinking water out of a plastic bottle knowing all the harmful chemicals that could be pouring down your throat!  Although glass can be the best choice it isn’t always a practical choice, especially if your a klutz like me.  My absolute favorite water bottle is from Corkcicle because it’s BPA free, made from stainless steel and does not contain aluminum.  They come in a variety of sizes, can be customized and will keep liquids cold for 25 hours or hot for 3!  Their 25 ounce canteen can easily fit a bottle of wine!  Check out their website: www.corkcicle.com

#2 The Ultimate Ballet Flat.  Do you ever have days when you are running around in your heels and you would rather be wearing slippers?  Tieks are the summer essential break that your feet need in between meetings, running around town, or on vacation.  I’ve had several pairs and consider them my old friend.  Tieks are stylish, come in many colors and will stand the test of time.  They fold up and fit right into your purse.  They are made from the finest Italian leathers and don’t dig into the back of your lower achielle.  The distinct blue non slip out sole will keep you from feeling every rock on the street.  I actually keep a pair in my office.  You can find a large variety at www.tieks.com  Try them and let me know if you love them as much as I do.

#3  A Good Hat.  When the summer high temps hit and my hair hits high volume, I always reach for a hat because I don’t have to style my hair and can still look stylish. Eric Javits has the best hats, and I have a few that I wear all the time.  His hats offer +50 SPF protection, are comfortable, flexible and travel very well.  When people tell me they are not a “hat person”, I tell them to try an Eric Javits hat because his hats look good on everyone!  Check out his website for the cutest collections. Fair warning… it may be difficult to choose: www.ericjavits.com

#4 Sunglasses.  One summer essential that I wear everyday is sunglasses and my favorite brand for a variety of reasons is Article One.  They are from my community in Flint, Michigan and were founded to raise awareness and funding for Vitamin A deficiency. Each year around 500,000 children go blind from Vitamin A deficiency and half of them die within 12 months.  While I was picking out my first pair, Wes (the owner) pointed out some benefits of his handcrafted eye wear.  Article One’s quality hinges made taking my sunglasses to my optometrist for repair a thing of the past.  I love Article One’s quality and what they stand for by giving back $2 for every sale made to help children in a life changing way.  Join me this summer not only in looking fabulous but by protecting your eyes and supporting Vitamin A deficiency in children too.

#5 Tanning Lotion. I am too well informed to sit in the hot sun and damage my skin.  If you are like me, your choices are self tanner or cover up those translucent legs!  Thankfully, my friend introduced me to Rodan & Fields tanning lotion.  It’s easy to apply just make sure you exfoliate your skin first and use the St Tropez Tan Applicator mitt to help avoid embarrassing streaks. Yes, this has happened to me!  Use this summer essential tanning lotion twice a week it will give you that golden tan your looking for.  Check it out at: www.rodanandfields.com
