Is anyone else tired after the Christmas celebrations but still wants to have fun on New Year’s Eve? That’s how I’m feeling this year! I like to keep New Year’s Eve simple and have a few close friends over for a small get together. I like to step it up a notch and add a few fun things to ring in the New Year. I can’t just invite people over without adding something special to the mix. I am including some of my favorites for you to choose from. You may want to do all of them or pick and choose the ones you like.

I love the holidays and do my best to balance out my time and energies during this time. One of the best ways to enjoy them is by hosting a whiskey tasting night. It really isn’t that hard and it can be quite fun. And please don’t think to yourself, “Gosh another thing I have to do!” I like to look at it as something that I can either make simple and ask my friends to participate in the planning or I can do it as something I want to give to my friends for the holidays.
My holiday season began with a whiskey tasting ladies’ night! I invited some of my long-time girlfriends who I knew would be up for the experience. Since we were all new tasters, we felt like our throats were burning after trying a few samples. So we cracked open a bottle of wine instead, haha! We had so much fun laughing, being together, and trying new things! During my tasting I used whiskey from a variety of regions, some were more familiar like Jameson and Maker Mark’s, and others were a little more refined and unexpected. The girls preferred the latter.
For as long as I can remember I have loved having people over to my house. It brings me joy watching my guests have a good time. I know what goes into hosting a party or a small gathering. When someone recognizes this effort with a hostess gift, it makes me feel much appreciated. I want to share with you some quick tips on being a great guest and also some of my favorite hostess gifts to give when I attend a party at someone else’s house. The reason why it is important to try and be a good guest is it makes the entire event more enjoyable for all. It also gives the host an opportunity to feel good about the event and feel appreciated and respected with a hostess gift. I know when I go to someone’s home I want to make sure they are also enjoying themselves.
Below are a few minimalistic guidelines to follow.
I don’t know about you but tailgate season or as some would call it, football season, is a great time of year! I love getting together, eating some food and hanging out with family and friends. Let’s face it, football season for me is another reason to have a good time! I do like the games but I am also a fair weather fan. In my opinion, best times for tailgating are early fall because in Michigan it can get cold quick! I try and avoid the snowy and rainy games!
I love having friends and family over for a glass of wine and visiting. I used to just throw out some cheese and crackers and call it good but I wanted to step it up a notch so I started experimenting with putting together a cheese and charcuterie board. It is fun making it look “pretty” and trying different cheeses and meats. Adding layers and variety is key and stepping outside of the box to try something new is when you make things more memorable. I put together a list of tips to help you have a easy and impressive cheese and charcuterie board.
