Whiskey Tasting Ladies’ Night

I love the holidays and do my best to balance out my time and energies during this time.  One of the best ways to enjoy them is by hosting a whiskey tasting night.  It really isn’t that hard and it can be quite fun.  And please don’t think to yourself, “Gosh another thing I have to do!”  I like to look at it as something that I can either make simple and ask my friends to participate in the planning or I can do it as something I want to give to my friends for the holidays.

My holiday season began with a whiskey tasting ladies’ night!  I invited some of my long-time girlfriends who I knew would be up for the experience. Since we were all new tasters, we felt like our throats were burning after trying a few samples. So we cracked open a bottle of wine instead, haha! We had so much fun laughing, being together, and trying new things! During my tasting I used whiskey from a variety of regions, some were more familiar like Jameson and Maker Mark’s, and others were a little more refined and unexpected.  The girls preferred the latter.

How To Make A Delicious And Easy Butternut Squash Soup

Keeping things simple for myself is key when I am hosting. I would suggest adding this butternut squash soup recipe to your meal plan for Thanksgiving. I love to serve this during the day before the “big meal” on Thanksgiving. You can make it a day or two before then on the day of put it in the crockpot. Set out some bowls for family to serve themselves during the lunch hour. It could also make a great appetizer. When we plan our Thanksgiving, we have the house filled with appetizers prior to the big feast. This soup is great to munch on before we sit down to eat together.

How To Find The Perfect Winter Coat For Your Body Type

It’s that time of year again to look into buying a winter coat.  I have a few coats in my closet that I know I probably shouldn’t be wearing.  They make me look bigger than I am and they just feel sloppy on me.  I finally found a guide to helping pick the perfect winter coat for your body type.  There are four general body types.  The way clothes fit will either enhance or hide our assets.  The goal is to enhance the positives and hide my less than ideal body shape.  The perfect winter coat can help find that good balance for your body type.  Use the illustration above by Patty Sweeney and the body types and suggestions below for picking the perfect winter coat.
