Holiday Party Outfits

The picture above is my pre-party warm up before the guests arrive! I love this time of year with the parties and festivities! I usually host some sort of gathering. I also go to either a work party or some other event.  The question remains, “What should I wear?” You know those pieces that you bring out only during the holidays? I’ve collected some staples over the years and then every year or so I like to add in a new piece. I’ve listed a few staples that help me take the guesswork out of planning holiday party outfits:

1.)  Velvet or satin pants!  The beauty of velvet pants is they can go the distance and stand the test of time. These are a staple I have had in my closet for ten plus years. I am more of a pants girl and I have a couple of favorites.  I have a pair of wide leg velvet pants and also a pair that are skinny. Velvet pants can be dressed up with a sparkly top or dressed down with a sweater.  They are the best and so versatile.

2.) Sparkly shoes.  I have a couple of different pairs of shoes that I have gathered over the years.  It is fun to pull them out on occasions such as the holidays.  There is nothing more festive than a pair of blingy shoes.  Pair with a blingy top and velvet pants and you are ready to roll, or ready to host, like in my picture above. They are great for a Christmas or New Year’s Eve party.

3.) Velvet dresses are all the rage this holiday season, I’ve even seen them in Vogue! I love the one that I purchased.  It’s very comfortable and I can dress it up with heels and nylons or keep it more fun with tights and over the knee boots.  The dress I bought has stretch to it so I can I can eat whatever I want and not have to worry!

4.) The black top.  So many of us run to black, including myself. With good reason.  It looks good.  It’s easy to wear.  And it’s slimming!  However, bring it up a notch with lace or satin.  This will make it much dressier and more festive.  I also like to pair a black top with black pants.  It is chic and classic at the same time!  Add some faux diamonds and red shoes and you are good to go!

I hope my this post helps take the stress out of finding your holiday party outfits.  Also, bling is acceptable at any age for any holiday event!  I am not typically a sparkly gal but when I get around the holidays I like to turn it up a notch.  Make sure to have fun and step outside of your comfort zone a little.  As I always say, the whole point is to have a great time. Why not have fun with your clothes while you have fun with your friends and family?

The picture below sums up how I feel when the last guest leaves! While I love the holidays and entertaining, it can be exhausting. Look for my upcoming blog post on how to relax during this hectic season.
