My love for hosting people in my home goes way back. I like to make my guests feel special while they are enjoying themselves. Hosting and entertaining can take some creativity. I may not always have the ideas or the time, but I do know where to find great ideas and resources. When I started thinking about my 4th of July entertaining, I immediately thought of one of my favorite places, The Iron Grate, a chic boutique in Fenton, Michigan. They specialize in inspiring creativity and style with unique products ranging from books and home decor to clothing and jewelry. I asked Kirsty and Tara, the owners, to head over and help. I highly recommend this great service they are now offering!
(Adding a little disclaimer here: not everything has to look and taste perfect. Entertaining is about the time and energy you put into relationships that you are building and the memories you are making.)
When decorating the table for 4th of July entertaining, one thing to keep in mind is to add variety. We selected various sizes of galvanized serving pieces for placing food at different heights. Fabrics add texture and are perfect for layering, they draw people in and make things more fun and interesting. Even though I used a theme of 4th of July entertaining, I can reuse these same materials on other occasions. Tara and Kirsty really helped pull this look together, I couldn’t have done it without this dynamic duo.
We ended the night with lots of laughs and the best part is, my friends went away feeling special. I believe whole heartedly in creating environments that make memories, The Iron Grate, went above and beyond to help me accomplish just that. Supporting local family business’s especially when they are great people always makes me feel proud to support my community.
I like being creative with entertaining by I also love expressing my personal style through fashion. I wrote a post with fashion tips for letting your personal style shine through, you can find it here.
